Youth Pastor

Summary: FBCLG is seeking an individual to be responsible for the Youth Ministry (middle and high school students). This person will be responsible for leading the youth ministry through intentional relationships and discipleship of the youth in the area. This person should be able to recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to help fulfill the duties of the youth ministry. This person should be a Spirit-led follower of Jesus Christ with a clear calling for youth ministry and a call to this church. To upload your resume, you may do so at the below.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum - Undergraduate degree or desirable experience and open to pursuing religious/youth ministry education. A candidate with no degree but desirable experience may be considered (example: Chaplaincy service or related work experience).

  • Preferred - Completed or nearly completed seminary degree from a seminary aligned with our church doctrine.

  • Must become a member of FBCLG

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Organized, prepared, punctual, proactive with a positive attitude

  • Able to perform duties with minimal supervision

  • Teachable and have willingness to grow and improve skills

  • Work with church staff to achieve the overall mission as directed

Abilities:

  • Demonstrate integrity, trustworthiness, and confidentiality when necessary

  • Teach the Bible in engaging and creative ways

  • Develop plans for weekly study

  • Manage conflict, seek peace in relationships, and apply conflict resolution as needed.

  • Maintain a level of excellence in appearance, work habits, and quality of work performed  

Expectations:

  • Work a minimum of 24 hours per week, including leading Sunday morning and Wednesday evening youth services and attend outreach and student events on a regular basis.

  • Plan periodic events such as youth camp and weekend events.

  • Actively post FBCLG Youth program plans through social media.

  • 24-28 hrs. per week

  • Promote the unity, direction, and vision of FBCLG by attending and participating in weekly staff meetings.

  • Oversee, examine, and implement curriculum for all youth Sunday and Wednesday meetings in coordination with the Discipleship Pastor.

  • Lead middle and high school students to encourage their spiritual growth.

  • Report to the lead pastor who will supervise, guide, and direct.

  • Produce a yearly budget and calendar.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop positive relationships with students’ parents and encourage parents to participate and to provide resources for youth events.

  • Display a Christ-like approach and lifestyle; pray regularly for young people in the church and community.

  • Grow all students, including those who are interested in a deeper knowledge of God and His Word

  • Plan and implement annual campouts, mission trips, Disciple Now events, and fellowships throughout the year and coordinate with the church calendar of events

  • Attend various events within the community to support youth and to meet their friends

  • Make and maintain positive relationships with leaders in the community and schools.

  • Become acquainted with the personal lives of the youth by visiting outside of church, attending youth activities, and generally supporting their endeavors.

  • Be flexible and able to work other assigned duties

  • Attend church events where youth are involved, example Sports Camp

 

First Baptist Church La Grange (FBCLG) is in rural Fayette County, Texas. FBCLG has a weekly attendance of approximately 150-200 with a focus on growing God’s kingdom and building disciples. The church mission statement is, “First Baptist Church La Grange exists to embrace Great Commandment love which fuels Great Commission living.” The church vision statement is “to provide a place to belong, a path to become, and an opportunity to believe in the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.” La Grange,Texas has a population near 5,000, but has the potential to grow rapidly in the future with the increasing population of Austin and Houston, both within commuting distance. During April 2022, the congregation completed the final phase of a multi-year construction project which includes a new sanctuary, discipleship building, and an amazing youth building.
