What Equip Ministry is About:

The Equip Technology Training and Employment Readiness Program exists to serve our community by offering real-world skills in a Christ-centered environment. As an outreach of First Baptist Church of La Grange, this ministry aligns fully with our church’s vision to be a place for people to belong, become, and believe in the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • A Place to Belong: Equip creates a welcoming, judgment-free space for adults of all backgrounds to gather, learn, and grow. By simultaneously offering childcare and youth programs, we are removing common barriers and creating a family-friendly atmosphere where participants feel supported and seen. Whether someone is a member of our church or simply seeking help, they will know they are welcome here.
  • A Path to Become: Equip empowers individuals to become more confident, capable, and prepared for opportunities in life and work. Through training in digital skills, job readiness, and parenting in a technology-driven world, participants will be equipped to take real steps forward — becoming the person God created them to be.
  • An Opportunity to Believe: Every aspect of Equip is grounded in the love of Christ. While the training is practical, the relationships and environment are spiritual. As trust is built and lives are changed, we believe that doors will open for deeper faith conversations and gospel-centered transformation.

This ministry isn’t just about computer skills — it’s about restoring dignity, building community, and offering hope. It is a natural extension of our mission to equip people to live transformed lives, meeting practical needs in a way that points to the ultimate transformation found in Jesus.

Equip Technology Training and Employment Readiness Program

Equip Ministry provides free GED preparation and employment-readiness training for adults in our community.

Our GED program is individualized rather than teaching the same content to every participant. After registering, each participant will complete a pre-assessment to determine their current skill level and identify the areas in which they need the most support. Participants will then receive personalized instruction in Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and/or Social Studies as they work toward earning their GED.
