Passage: 1 Corinthians 7:17-24

Preacher: Dr. Steve Brown

Series: First Corinthians

Detail:

KALA: Of the following which is the best donut and why: Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts, Shipley Do-Nuts

Prayer: Psa. 2:1-12

I praise You Jesus because You are King over ____________________.

I praise You that even though the nations rage, Jesus is on His throne and is coming soon.

Holy King, I surrender ___________________ to Your rule.

I know that _____________________ is in rebellion against You. Use me and others to call them to serve and worship You.

As I encounter ___________________________ help me to trust You as my refuge.

I can remain in anything vocationally because of everything I am vertically.

1 Cor. 7:17-24

1. My vocational activity does not determine my vertical identity.

We are to live out our vertical identity within our vocational calling.

I cannot look to my vocational call to produce what my vertical call provides.

We confuse our vertical relationship with our vocational responsibilities.

2. My vertical identity determines my vocational activity.

I don’t have to change what I do; I can change how I do it and how I view it.

We can remain in our vocational call because of our vertical call.

Eph. 6:5-8

You can remain in your call, your vocation, or your situation in life because your identity in Christ makes your vocation less than ultimate.
